Friday Night Sabbath

I'm not sure how many years ago I met them, but I'd say at least ten. They were friends from the start and to this day, have remained very close and very appreciated. These kinds of friends are hard to come by.

They began to invite me over to their home to spend time reconnecting and furthering the friendship that was already well built. So, on Friday nights every month or so, I go over and share a wonderful meal, catch up with them and play with their beautiful adopted children. It is always a blessed time.
It is their Sabbath-- The day they take to calm themselves from the hustle of the life around them and take moment after moment giving thanks for what they have and blessing what they love. I will say that they are amazing people with amazing values that are highly respected.

She runs around wildly preparing dinner and making sure everything is ready and just right. Being a wonderful mother; caring and thoughtful.
The children run around full of laughter and ask hilariously loud and constant questions of their favorite Sabbath dinner guest (me), and I absolutely love it.
He comes home from a hard day of work, gently kisses her and lovingly plays with the children. Being an amazing father, showing patience and love.
The dog wags her tail and tries to look cute so she'll get a yummy piece of bread and a playful moment or two from me. It usually works.
It is a family. And it is a joy to watch.

I'm honored to be invited into these moments and honored to call them friends.
Thank you.

  2. Well done bro. Keep writing.

btw, Kaleigh is working an internship at the Nashville Film Institute and loving it. Find her on FB - she'll tell you all about it. We were talking about you at supper tonight. She said that every student at NFI reminds her of you. (It's a compliment.)

Much love. Check your FB inbox.
