Directed by Ben Affleck and Starring Ben Affleck, Rebecca Hall, Jon Hamm, Jeremy Renner and Chris Cooper
Ben Affleck (who also directed 'Gone Baby Gone') brings out his sophomore effort with gusto (yeah, I just said "gusto"). He has proven himself as an A-list director and master story teller.
It might seem a typical idea; a group of friends in a very small Boston suburb rob banks for a better life and the thrill. But, the thrill becomes too dangerous when one of them kidnaps a helpless woman until they get safely away. The leader sees the rules being broken and the danger of his team's recklessness.
He wants out but the mob boss that controls him won't let him unless he does one last job.
So, was I right? Sounds typical? It is... however, the way this movie is told and put together, you find yourself pulled into the characters as well as the story. And, that's what it's all about-- getting lost in the story of another, and living in that world for a couple hours.
The action is great-- memorable chase scenes and the robberies are well thought out and executed with great precision.
I loved it and if you like a good heist wrapped in some well written human drama, I think you'll like it, too. This heist will suffice.
Enjoy.
