After I realized that I had been standing in the "waiting" line for New Moon (which was out into the street), I quickly bypassed it and walked straight up to the ticket counter and got my ticket for The Fourth Kind. The line to wait for my movie was a mere three people long and I was thankful after looking at the line for New Moon.
Finally, I sit down in the theater and I wait.
I've come to understand that having expectations on movies will generally let me down so walking in, I was merely ready to see an alien thriller "based" on actual events and tinged with the old "hollywood" fingerprint.
The movie started very uniquely and I knew that this movie would be a little different. Milla Jovovich walks up to the screen (as herself) and gives the audience a short and compelling explanation of what we are about to experience and to say that inter cut in the film is actual video footage of the actual events.
I was captivated.
The movie as a whole is so creatively done, showing the archive footage and the filmed footage of the actors performing exactly what the archive footage is showing. It is truly a well done concept and executed very well.
The Fourth Kind is a very stylized and a very creepy film that really makes you question what you know and what you think you know about the subject of the existence of aliens and abduction.
Enjoy.
